Dr. Sol Pound is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.  She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Western Ontario and completed her residency at Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK). Her clinical training included work with children, adolescents, and young adults, providing consultation, assessment, and evidence-based treatment. She has worked in hospitals, community-based mental health centres, schools, and private practices. 

 

Dr. Pound is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She provides consultation and treatment services for children and adolescents with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, behavioural issues, obsessive-compulsive disorder, stress, developmental concerns, and learning issues. She has a special interest in working collaboratively with parents to help them understand what is behind their child’s behaviour and engage in parenting approaches that foster connection, cooperation, structure, and the development of coping skills.  She has extensive training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, mindfulness, and positive parenting (informed by research on brain development). She has also received training in attachment theory, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, brief therapy, and infant mental health. Dr. Pound integrates her knowledge of these approaches to best suit the unique needs of each individual client. 

 

Dr. Pound also conducts comprehensive psycho-educational and psychological assessments with preschoolers, school-age children, adolescents, and young adults for a variety of presenting problems including Learning Disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other developmental and mental health concerns. 

            

Dr. Pound is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association. She lives in the Waterloo Region with her husband and two young children. In her spare time, she enjoys playing squash, reading, drinking tea, and spending time with her family and friends.
