Dr. Legate completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Queen's University where her primary area of research was online bullying. She completed her clinical residency in Newfoundland at Eastern Health, where she provided assessment, treatment, and consultation for children and adolescents in a hospital setting. She has worked in school board, inpatient hospital, tertiary care, and community mental health settings.
She provides services to children, adolescents, and their parents. She has training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). Dr. Legate enjoys finding creative ways to help support youth to try new things and do more of what is important to them. She also believes that involving parents in that process allows change to happen faster.
In her spare time Dr. Legate enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and running outdoors. She loves live music, board games, and knitting while watching a good television series.
